Mitsubishi, Please Consider

When I first encountered a left hand drive 380 with car bras covering both front and rear ends early last year, I was surprisingly impressed. Looked like a serious rival to the Mazda 6 and Honda Accord.

You could then imagine my reaction when the official photos were released. I was totally flabbergasted. These guys managed to somehow shoot themselves in the foot… yet again. Let’s hope it’s not terminal.

Are you wondering what the executives were smoking? They certainly find it difficult distinguishing between a bomb and a lemon. What Mitsubishi Motors Australia Ltd need is a car enthusiast running the company. They need a person who understands the market, who can do without the ‘Yes Men‘ market research crap. They’ll know how a car is built, from the mould up. Still don’t know if you have the right person? Are they willing to make daring decisions that could cost them their job and reputation?

So, what can Mitsubishi do to revive their 380 from a spectacular failure?

ANSWER: Budget in 20 million to change the front and rear ends. And, yes it can be done for that price if you know what you are doing. Make sure the styling is NOT conservative. We all know what conservative styling can do to sales. Just look at the Civic & Prelude.

I shall say this only once: It’s the looks stupid!
